Colors and Shapes
Colors and Shapes Word Search Puzzles
This shelf is for art tables and geometry warm-ups. Basic Colors is Easy on a 12 × 12: twelve short color names fit because Easy only uses east and south. Shapes is Medium, with rectangle, pentagon, and hexagon needing diagonal room. Art Vocabulary is Hard and uses studio words (pigment, tint, saturation) rather than color names. Patterns is Medium: chevron, zigzag, motif. Design Words is Easy and borrows language from a typesetting desk—margin, column, align—because this site is itself a small printshop.
Short color names can create extra accidental spellings in the filler. The generator retries filler letters and, if a list still produces duplicate occurrences along allowed directions, it reports the problem instead of pretending the answer key is unique. If Basic Colors fails in a rare run, press Generate Again or open the main workshop at 15 × 15.
These puzzles pair well with Art Supplies on the school shelf. Print Basic Colors with a large title for a first sheet, then offer Shapes when diagonals are welcome. The word bank uses ordinary American spellings such as gray.

Color and shape questions
Why is Basic Colors on 12 × 12?
The words are short and the difficulty is Easy. A 12 × 12 gives filler more room so names such as red are less likely to appear twice. If placement still fails, generate again or open the main generator at 15 × 15.
Is gray spelled with an A?
Yes, the American spelling GRAY is used.
Do found-word highlights use color alone?
No. Found words also receive a check mark and strikethrough in the word list.
